Thank you for being part of this pilot event.
The trial will be played as one division. This means we have a range of playing skill levels all playing in the same division, so I have decided to have a go at handicapping the event*. And rather than a second division league winner we will have a prize for highest ranking pair on handicap. Costs have yet to be finalised - but I anticipate the prizes to be 1st Pair £100, 2nd Pair £80, 1st Handicap £70 The format will be matchpoint pairs as outlined below, but for those players among you who just like to turn up and play fun, competitive bridge - don't worry I will be there to take care of everything - you just be ready to play on Thursday - the start time is 2.30pm but if we are all there by 2.15pm we can start! We will play 26 boards each session - all matches will be 6 boards long and scored on a suitable VP scale. Each session will have 3 or 4 complete matches, and the first or final part of another match. Bridgemates will be used for scoring, and all pairs will meet each other. This format does not work at all well if a pair does not turn up - so please please I implore you all to be there or inform me if you can't come. * Using the new EBU NGS scheme. Handicaps will be published all with results here.
